Switchgear Solutions by NLC BMC

Switchgear is the backbone of any electrical distribution system, responsible for controlling, protecting, and isolating electrical equipment. NLC's BMC division designs, manufactures, and installs high-quality switchgear assemblies for low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) applications across Saudi Arabia.

Every switchgear solution is built to IEC 61439 standards, assembled in our modern manufacturing facility, and subjected to rigorous factory acceptance testing before delivery to site.

Switchgear Types

Main Distribution Board (MDB)

Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear

Main distribution boards (MDB) and synchronization (sync) panels for voltages up to 1,000V AC.

Up to 1kV
Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear

Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear

Metal-clad and metal-enclosed MV switchgear for primary distribution networks, substations, and ring main units (RMU).

1kV – 36kV
Motor Control Centers (MCC)

Motor Control Centers (MCC)

Integrated motor starter assemblies for pumping, HVAC, and process equipment, with DOL, star-delta, and VFD options.

Industrial
Busbar Trunking Systems

Busbar Trunking Systems

Compact busbar trunking for distribution in high-rise buildings, data centers, and industrial facilities, with tap-off units for flexible load connections.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which division at NLC handles switchgear, and what does it offer?

NLC's BMC division designs, manufactures, and installs high-quality switchgear assemblies for low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) applications across Saudi Arabia, responsible for controlling, protecting, and isolating electrical equipment.

What standard does NLC build its switchgear to?

Every switchgear solution is built to IEC 61439 standards, assembled in NLC's modern manufacturing facility, and subjected to rigorous factory acceptance testing before delivery to site.

What voltage ranges do NLC's switchgear types cover?

LV switchgear covers voltages up to 1,000V AC (up to 1kV), while metal-clad and metal-enclosed MV switchgear covers the 1kV to 36kV range. NLC also offers Motor Control Centers and busbar trunking systems.

Can NLC switchgear integrate with building management and SCADA systems?

Yes. NLC switchgear provides Modbus, Profibus, and IEC 61850 communication interfaces for integration with building management and SCADA systems, along with integrated power metering.

What testing does NLC perform on switchgear before handover?

NLC performs Factory Acceptance Testing including full functional testing, insulation resistance testing, primary injection testing, and protection relay coordination, followed on site by secondary injection and final SAT with as-built documentation.

Where is NLC's switchgear typically used?

Typical applications include commercial buildings, hospitals, data centers, industrial plants, hotels and resorts, power substations, airports, water treatment, and oil and gas facilities.

How does NLC protect personnel from arc flash?

NLC offers arc flash detection systems and arc-resistant enclosure designs, alongside advanced circuit breakers with electronic trip units for precise overcurrent, earth fault, and short-circuit protection.

Can NLC's switchgear be expanded or maintained without a shutdown?

Yes. Draw-out and plug-in circuit breaker designs allow easy expansion, maintenance, and replacement without a full system shutdown.
